Our Commitment to Social Change
By Jake Taylor
At our core, we are not just a publishing house—we are a home for stories that refuse to look away. We seek out voices that unsettle complacency, illuminate injustice, and remind us that empathy is not a luxury but a responsibility. Every book we publish begins with a simple question: will this story matter to someone’s life, and might it make them see the world differently?
Our commitment to social change spans a wide spectrum of human and non-human experience. Some of our titles follow people living through the devastation of drug addiction—families broken, bodies battling dependence, communities left to pick up the pieces. These stories are raw and unflinching, but they are never exploitative. They exist so that readers can understand the systems that fail people, the courage it takes to seek help, and the hope that recovery, however fragile, is possible.
Other books carry readers far from rehab centers and city streets to the open landscapes of Kenya, where elephants navigate a world that is increasingly shaped by human decisions. These narratives are not simply about majestic animals; they are about shared futures, threatened ecosystems, and the moral obligation we have to protect life beyond our own species. By following the lives of elephants in the wild, readers confront the consequences of poaching, habitat loss, and climate change in ways statistics alone never could.
We believe outrage has a purpose when it is paired with understanding and action. Our goal is to spark the kind of discomfort that leads to questions, conversations, and ultimately, change. That is why our books now appear in more than twenty languages around the world: social change cannot be confined to one country, culture, or continent. It must cross borders as freely as stories do.
We remain committed to publishing work that challenges, heals, and mobilizes. As long as there are voices that need to be heard and lives that need to be seen, we will keep placing those stories into readers’ hands—one book, one conversation, and one act of courage at a time.
